Indeevara Retreat

Overview

our story

The western ghat mountains come alive in the late afternoon light as the mountain road that we are on climbs higher. The ridge lines are streaked with gold, the valleys cloaked in a tapestry of rising clouds, tendrils of mist and a patchwork of blue and green. Passing small towns and their markets, people carrying baskets laden with produce, buses hurtling downhill and lumbering upslope, we arrive at a town named Vythiri.

With densely forested towering mountain slopes in view, a road once again travels uphill to the Indeevara Retreat and Spa. The slope is a little steeper once past the entrance and the resort’s reception. Continuing uphill, the path passes between rows of cottages and villas, fringed by rows of colourful flowers leafy plants and clusters of trees. An area for indoor games, a children’s play area, the resort’s multi-cuisine restaurant and pool lie ahead beside the path. An exclusive standalone cottage, banqueting area, boardroom, an Ayurvedic spa and gymnasium await guests at the end of the path.

The architecture of the resort reflects a very deep rooted influence of Kerala’s vernacular design traditions. Sloping roofs, stone pillars, a profusion of wood and colours that flow from the lush foliage that cradles the resort. The Indeevara Retreat and SPA exists in a space that is serene. Settle in.

The options then are many, explore the delicious multi-cuisine in our restaurant, laze in the pool, work out in our multi-gym or else avail of Ayurveda treatment, go for walks, explore our delightful bird park, take a guided tour to the many beautiful spots in the area and if one is particularly adventurous, go on a trek through the many challenging trails in the hills.
